In clinical study data collection, large screen size solves many problems generally encountered in PDA-based ePROs systems.
In PDA-based systems with small screens, study teams are often required to significantly modify the question and answer text because the original questionnaire text simply can’t fit.

These modifications then cause validation concerns, because the FDA and others can question whether the data will be equivalent to the paper-based instrument. To address validation concerns, a validation study often then needs to be commissioned.
In addition, it is often necessary to use very small font sizes, tiny graphics, and repeated scrolling using undersized arrows to view entire questions, which makes the systems difficult and frustrating to use, particularly in older patient populations.
assisTek’s TouchPRO tablet touch screen provides so much screen real estate that question and response text has never had to be modified, even in foreign languages that are notorious for consuming screen real estate (e.g. German). The font is large and easy to read for all patient populations, including populations that are elderly and burdened by pain or vision issues. This view is supported by peer-reviewed studies.
